| PTF Reviews: Guidelines and Regulations PTF Reviews: Guidelines and Regulations Important! Please read thoroughly before posting a review. Tread Format: 1. Please select an appropriate thread prefix (Movie, Website, Book, etc.) based on the type of media you are reviewing. In your thread title be sure to include the name of the reviewed material as well. [Temporary Note: Until the thread prefixes are created, please amend [Type of Media] to the beginning of your thread title.] Content Guidelines: Tip: Just because a point below mentions a specific type of media, it may not apply only to that. 1. Please be sure your review has some level of substance. Writing "I enjoyed this movie" as your review will result in its deletion. Elaborate on why you liked the movie. Was it because of the special effects? The acting? The plot? All of those? Give us details. 2. Try and mention both the pros and cons. Even the best movie has its flaws. If you really can't find anything, make this clear. It is better to explain that there were no visible flaws than to neglect mentioning it at all. 3. Be thorough. While there are no solid rules on what must be included in your review, the more points you touch on - the better. With a movie you can discuss the plot, acting, directing, dialogue, special effects and more. For books you have the ability to cover the writing style, the flow, character development, themes, etc. Try and think of everything you can. 4. When reviewing a website, be sure what you're posting is actually a review. Something written for the sole purpose of advertisement is not acceptable and will be removed. 5. When reviewing any sort of music please specify the genre(s). You don't need to be extremely specific or even totally correct. Many bands and songs could technically fit into numerous genres. However, a reader unfamiliar with the band/singer should know what to expect. Are we looking at a Mozart style here? Or is it more like the Wu Tang Clan? 5. (Cont.) Mention the members and include a brief biography if you have the information. Who plays what and do they do it well? How do the instruments compliment one another? How do they contrast? If you can find some of their songs on YouTube, feel free to post a link to them. Note: When posting YouTube videos, please do not include them in your original post. Just reply to your review with the videos. 6. Your review does not need to look like it was written by an English professor - but it should look like it was written by someone who speaks English. Formality and perfection are not required, but readability and understandability are. Replying to a Review: 1. When replying to a review be sure that you're actually contributing something. One word replies are not accepted. However, feel free to point something out or make comments regarding the review. For example, if someone was reviewing a band and you listened to it, you could voice your opinion. If you want to voice your opinion in depth - post your own review. ![]() Requesting a Review: 1. If you would like to have something reviewed, you may post a thread for it. Please use the [Request] thread prefix. Try to include any information you may have on the media you want reviewed. Please understand that not all requests may be fulfilled. [Temporary Note: Until the thread prefixes are created, please amend [Request] to the beginning of your thread title.] Questions/Comments: If you are confused and have a question or would like to provide feedback on PTF Reviews, please contact a staff member. | This all looks to be in order. Good thinking on making sure reviews on web sites aren't a loophole for spammers. Same to letting people request reviews: perfect for having something you've done yourself reviewed (I mean, you can't review your own stuff). I'd like to add that members are welcome to suggest any changes or additions in the rules. Kovich covered that with Quote:

I'm going to post up some reviews in the near future. But if anybody wants to request something I'll gladly watch/listen to it. Books I'm a little more picky.

I'll write some review as I come across stuff that's review worthy... I can guarantee you it's probably going to be electronic gadgets and stuff like that though, ![]() ![]() |
