Default Moderator/Admin Procedure Suggestion

I didn't want to like, PM people when I didn't even know who did it.

So it has come to my attention that a post NeoPhoenix made and a post I made has been deleted. Now, I'm pretty anti-post deleting as a rule, unless it's something ridiculous like spam. But you can forget about my anti-post deleting rule if you want and just look at the fact:

Our posts were deleted and we weren't even given a reason why.

So my suggestion (besides just not deleting posts and letting people handle their own "problems") is to, if you insist on deleting posts, at least tell the people why.

And don't delete posts because we're big boys/girls here. Yeah, I couldn't let that go.

Yeah, there really doesn't need to be any deletion of posts unless it is of course spam or things start getting out of hand. We all pretty much agree here that people should be uncensored within reason. What I posted was a pretty tame jab at an insane individual. Could the thread have done without it? Sure. Did it really warrant deletion? No, because the whole debate had gone silly anyways because of the person who the jab was intended for. There's people with different viewpoints and then there are people who are just...out there. Why not add to the silliness?

You two need to be more like me. I never make inappropriate wisecracks. If you don't believe me just ask Kovich... well don't ask him, maybe Butler... nah. How about Ash? Surely Ash will vouch for me.

While we all know I don't delete posts, except on very rare occasions, today was one of those occasions. I removed one post that was reported by a member, and another post that was a direct reply regarding the removed post. I also don't like to quote 'the rules' but I feel as though it would be appropriate here to explain:

http://www.puretalkforum.com/f5/pure...ions-4309.html

Sometimes certain posts will need to be removed here and there when they create a feeling of uncomfortability for a member, and that member has a legitimate claim against the post - in this case, the post was quoted and so were specific rules. After objectively viewing both pieces of data, I reached the conclusion that deleting the post was necessary.

I also believe that there is a huge difference between censorship and deleting a post to maintain a civil atmosphere. Censorship would be removing posts simply because the staff here doesn't agree with them, and that is clearly not the case here.

Hopefully you guys will understand this decision.

But hey, if you want a PM next time, I can do that.

Honestly, if someone got offended at what I said they need to get thicker skin. Shit, I've said harsher to little kids before. It was THAT tame. And to be honest, I knew this guy was going to be trouble from his very first post. I've come across this type of poster before and trust me, it never ends well. Seriously, go do a google search on this guy and he's banned on every single forum he goes to. What he says is entertaining the first time you see it in a thread, but it's not going to be amusing when every debate thread devolves into some deranged rant about "Forbidden Truth Seeking Slave Containers". His posts are more of a disruption than my little harmless jabs ever could be. He's either deranged or the greatest troll on earth, one of the two.

Honestly, I agree. And I doubt he'll be around much longer.

Just banned him permanently for abuse of the post reporting system.

Good call. We've now joined EVERY OTHER BOARD HE'S EVER BEEN AT in kicking his ass to the curb.

He lives in Utah by the way. "Travis Truman" is his real name. He potentially has a criminal record.
