Really? I haven't posted here yet? I thought I did.

OK...so...

No, I don't think that people who don't smoke should have to breathe in other people's smoke, but this is why public buildings either ban smoking or have smoking sections. People who smoke have a right to do so, and the government shouldn't tell them they can't unless it's in their own home. Now, I really don't think that people should smoke in their own houses if they have kids who will breathe in an unhealthy amount of smoke and maybe lose a few years off their lives, but that's legal anyway. Now, if you go outside and smoke, why shouldn't you be able to you? This law is for all public places right? Not just buildings? I don't really feel like retyping all of this or even just cutting and pasting it so I can check the first post, but that's where I am on it. Should be legal unless the people who own a business want to ban it in their own property, or government owned buildings or whaetver have you.

I'm assuming you meant they can smoke in their home. Not sure what you meant there.

And yes, they are trying to rid of it from public parks and the like.

Yeah, I meant the government is trying to stop smoking unless you are in your own home. Public parks are outside, anyway. The smoke isn't going to settle. It's going to go up into the air, just as it does when any fire is burning. Sure, it has all these other toxins and crap in it, if you get it store bought as opposed to just growing tobacco like you might weed, assuming you grew weed, but it's going up into the air anyway if you crack a window in your house.

From my personal standpoint (son of a family of smokers), of course, I think it should be banned from inside public buildings. Having "two rooms" (one smoking and the other non) is rather ridiculous seeing as (and hoping) there is an A/C system. But also, smoking is indeed just another bad habit and I feel that if you really NEED that nicotine oh so bad, then going outside is what you need to do. I mean, lets say masturbation was your habit ... most people GO somewhere to do so, not just right in the middle of the store. Bad example, I know. But you have to give up something to get something.

As far as the government is concerned, I will never vouch or attempt to try and justify anything they think is a "good law" or "helping the people", because they don't want to help anyone but, of course you guessed it, themselves.

This can be somewhat analogized the same as with The People vs. Larry Flint, you know, if you want to smoke, then go outside ... or don't smoke? Now if I WAS a smoker I can see how this is mildy inconvenient and not to knock these types of people, but if you're too lazy to understand & realize that smoking is bad for you and me ... then I guess (now this is a longshot) that you're too lazy to give a shit where you exhale that last puff?

My first real post. Hi my name is xtel, I'll be here all day.

Yes, but the main concern I'm having with this issue is there trying to ban it in public parks, or outside in general...

Restaurants can have rules against it for all I care. I just won't go there

Oh in that case ... umm, there are more important things going on in this world than to worry about where people smoke. They need to let this go. It's just like anything else, banning it makes people want to do it just that much more.

I'm with everyone who agrees with me on this one. Unless it's proven that smoking in outdoor public places can harm the health of the non-smoking public, there's no reason to ban it.
