i dont like the education system in America, its basically just brain washing...thoughts?

Er, how is it brainwashing? I discussed some issues with school with my parents, and now I know a lot of things about America and why its education is as it is.

I don't think of it as brain washing, I think of some of it as, pointless

Ok, first of all, I'm going to answer that question. The answer is at the starting/ending station where both trains stop at simultaneously, because they won't cross once if they leave in opposite directions. Could you seriously not answer that?

Well, if you were to monitor the railroads and train systems, like in NY, yeah, it might be a good idea to know that
stuff. Also, if you're an investigator, and you run into a terrorist case in which the bomb implodes at the exact moment of crossing, yeah, you're going to need it. See, I would think the same thing, but after I saw truth, meaning I listened to what my parents were getting at, I understand.

The point of that question is not to know train crossing, but to exercise your ability with speed, rate, and time. A LOT of jobs deal with speed, rate, and time. It doesnt have to be a real life thing if its an exercise, and it is.

the most learning you do in your lifetime happens before age 5, before pre-school, before the brain washing

now i'm not saying that school is bad, because educating yourself is probably the most important thing you could ever do but in the American school system, history especially is very biased towards America, things are left out or changed slightly to always make us look like the good guy...and of course thats what we as people want, we want to feel good about these things but when you're learning it can't be biased...thats not fair, its not the whole truth

also, reciting text to a student doesn't teach, thats just memorizing, or like in my case its in one ear and out the other...learning is something that you have to be hands on about, we need more classes about Humanism, we need to learn to be human as funny as that sounds...we need to learn to treat each other right, to eliminate racism and sexism

basically we need to learn common sense, because we've been brain washed into worshiping false idols...ahh, you didnt think of your wants that way did you? this society holds the stupidest things in the highest regards, and we joke about it cuz we know its so blantent, but think about your children who are now watching this who don't realize the ridiculousness of it, they see that as truth

school is extremely boring for a reason, there are certain people who they want to advance and then there are others who...well, not so much...think about this, the same people who run our school systems run our prison systems...now if i had a business i would also have a target audience who i'd want to advertise to, correct? so now if i owned a prison (which by the way, there are privately owned prisons), how would i turn a profit off my prison? by having more prisoners right? making them pay me for their stay in my prison...but that can start a whole new discussion

Er, History is always biased. You dont have some japanese-mexican-italian-greek-chinese-all other nationalities person writing unbiased history. History is recorded. By people. Of different nationalities. Of different languages at times. On different sides of conflict.

Learning. Where did you learn how to do the things you do now? How do you know, and memorize what humanism is? How do you know and memorize history is biased? How did you learn to think and defy and say school is brainwash? From school, of course. Teachers dont merely recite and expect, whether you're aware or not, you did learn from school. School also exercised your memory. School is where your parents learned how to get/prepare for a job to ultimately raise you. School itself is an exercise for life.

I think we leave "treating each other right, elim etc." to our parents and family. You shouldn't need to send your child to school to be told "don't hate gays and Jews," that should be the things family must teach. Why be taught common sense? I don't think it's possible to learn common sense actually. Yeah... and what do you mean by worship false idols? I didnt get that part.

What do you mean there are certain people they want to advance? Its entirely up to the person who is being taught. School teaches, and students learn if they want to. How much do the students want it? How badly do they want it?

I don't see how school brainwashes. If it brainwashes, you would find it morally wrong to say it brainwashes. Come to think of it, we learned our morals, ultimately, from school... that totally kills a lot I just typed...

true, but the parts that are left out are usually criminalizing activity, such as American companies doing business with Hitler, the CIA engineering and distributing crack cocaine, we sell weapons to countries and turn around and attack them for having these weapons, case in point Iraq, how did we know they had weapons? Regan sold em to Hussein, um...the CIA trained and abided terrorists including Osama Bin Laden.......9/11? anyway...

this i dont understand, how do i know and memorize what humanism is? i dont follow at all, however i did not learn to think for myself and defy the system from school

i'm not saying i didnt learn anything in school, however i am saying that it needs a major overhaul, because i've learned more in the 2 years i've been out then in the 12 i was in

because families don't have prejudices? if you let the family teach that, racism and sexism will be passed down like they have been for centuries

...seriously? it can be taught by just punching someone in the face when they do something stupid, thats education in a very primitive way...i think you're too caught up with thinking of education as only happening inside of a school building

watch tv...we follow every footstep of celebrities, we buy over priced products that people in 3rd world countries make at slave wages, we worship money and wealth in our society because we have it, but what we get is just the table scraps from what the people on top get...did you know that the 1/3rd of the worlds population holds half its currency?

Hmm, where did you learn about humanism? How do you still know what it is? That's what I mean. And you did, infact, learn to think for yourself when you find out that people wont do the thinking for you, or you learn that you don't like what others think. You say you learned more in two years than you did in the twelve years of schooling? Wow, shows you how good the school did, eh? Congratulations, you succeeded in life, learning new things at such a fast rate, developing as a person, and most of all, proving that school helps more than you think! Also, if humanism (I am so lucky I'm studying the Renaissance period right now) were taught by teachers, who many have little respect for, i think it would be just a blob of blah. Who would have more influence, the people in your life whom you grew up with or some guy/girl, who many grow to hate, that teaches you for 10 something years? Do you find it morally wrong to say school brainwashes? I don't, I just don't agree with you. I think schools get people somewhere in today's strange society, not brainwash.

EDIT: Okay, so I like put down my headphones and ipod cuz someone called me right? I put it on max volume so i could hear it. I left it sitting there for 5 mins, and the idol timer shut it off. So when i put it back on my ears, It was like BOOOOM! My heart literally skipped a beat. The volume I listen at with ipods is like 1/5 of the bar, so that scarred my hearing for life. Sorry, just had to get that random stuff to the public.
