The previous posts in this thread explain why people do it. I don't think it's just for people who can't go out on "real" dates but just a new technology-induced method of courtship, just as it's a new technology-induced method of stalking. I'm sure all the 40 year old pervs could stalk someone in real life if they wanted to.

Maybe one of the big reasons people choose to online date is because they met eachother over the web, and got to like each other, and then just started to go out. Then eventually they could meet each other face to face (I'm not talking about video chating either) Do you get what I'm saying now?
