The fetus gains rights at the moment of it's birth because it's stops being a parasite in it's mother at that point. It sounds like a cold way to describe but it's the best description of why the way the law works the way it does. If anyone kills the babies or lets it die after its birth it is undeniably murder.

Do you know what a parasite is?

Parasitism is a type of symbiotic relationship between organisms of different species in which one, the parasite, benefits from a prolonged, close association with the other, the host, which is harmed.

Or, a person who receives support, advantage, or the like, from another or others without giving any useful or proper return, as one who lives on the hospitality of others.

Or, An organism that lives off or in another (note: doesn't mean a different species)organism, obtaining nourishment and protection while offering no benefit in return. Human parasites are often harmful to the body and can cause diseases.

But whatever, I've been there, had this argument. They're parasites. The relationship is parasitic. The basic definition is that of an organism latching onto the host and suckin' it without giving anything back. That sounded dirty. People use the word to describe any relationship like that. Now you're on your own gillibean.

I'm aware of the exact definition of a parasite. Thank you. I wasn't using it literally. Parasite is the best description of the relationship that I can think of at the moment to explain the reasoning behind the laws.

Butler, do you actually think it's inconsistent or are you just picking apart things for the hell of it?

Ah hell, I don't know. I don't really believe in my own side here fully anyway.

I remember when I called them parasites a few months ago.

Well there's a parasitic relationship, sure, but I don't see how that relates to fetus/human rights...

Not that I'm continuing the argument, I'm just wondering how being a parasite fits in. If you listen to Agent Smith, humanity is all viruses anyway.

Abortion is a decision that should be left to the mother. There are many different circumstances that a woman may wish to abort- maybe she can't take care of the baby- maybe the baby was a result of a sexual assault or rape...you can't go about generalizing abortion rules for society..

I don’t like the idea of abortion because we have no right to take life and every human has the right to live and discover that life is beautiful.

That's exactly where I stand on it as well. As long as abortion is legal, I can't see how anybody can defend banning stem cell research as being responsible.

Wasteful, destructive, and pointless.

Man, I hope not. If so, I used to commit genocide about three times a day.
