And this all started with marijauna, the gateway drug.

I was a good kid, I didnt do drugs and my stupid sister gave me pot one day and then I started taking acid and now my little brains all fucked up.

I could have been a genius AJ, we were genius children but my stupid parents failed to do their job so I went crazy.

When drug dealers start being responsible enough to say, you know what, hes a 13 year old kid and he's got school tomorrow and I dont want him to mess his life up. I want his little brain to work properly for that test he has to take so he can get an A, then maybe pot will be legal.

When potheads start being productive.

When they stop giving 13 year old kids sheets of acid and fucking with them and being mean to them and then leaving them alone to go crazy and laugh at their depression and insanity.

I dont want to send that message to children that pot is legal and its o.k. to smoke pot. No parent should allow their children to drop out of school at 15 and sit there and smoke pot and take acid.

i think alcohol is the ultimate "gateway" drug, if there really is such a thing.
some people have addiction in their genes. regardless of what they try first, they are preprogrammed to crave substances.
i think its all a matter of circumstance. its situational and has a lot to do with peer pressure/influence.

i tried blow when i was 18. (first and only time i ever did it though)
i didn't get drunk for the first time until i was 19.
i tried pot on about 4 different occasions from the time i was 19 to the time i was 21.

currently, i'm pretty sure i'd qualify as a pot-head... but contrary to popular belief, i am quite productive in my day-to-day life. i have enough discipline and self-control to use it safely and in such a way that it does not adversely effect other aspects of my life. its never been an issue for me, and i doubt it ever will.
i occasionally drink. i don't do any other drugs.
i have experienced substance addiction before so i know what it feels like, and i can honestly say that while at times i may abuse pot, i am not addicted.

of course there are a lot of people out there with less self-control who find themselves in unfortunate circumstances because of drug abuse/addiction... i believe this has less to do with the specific attributes of a particular substance than with the person themself. if a person is a substance abuser/addict, they will use whatever they can get their hands on. if there were no illegal drugs for this person to use, they would get high off of cough syrop. they would get high off of aerosol cans of pressurized air.
i'm not saying that drugs don't fuck you over, because they sure as hell can... but it seems pretty naive to put the blame entirely on the substance itself, an inanimate object.

Yes. Before a few days ago I would have said no, we shouldn't legalize it, but since then I have changed my mind. And it's for more reasons then the ability to tax it.

First, because of Marijuana, hemp is illegal. Hemp is a plant that looks like marijuana, but doesn't have any of the same effects. Hemp is important because we need to use it to make Bio diesel, which is much better then ethanol, as ethanol is 23% less efficient then oil, because of the water and stuff used in making it.

Second, I think it's important to legalize it, because it would cut down on the rates of kids who do other worse drugs. Marijuana is considered a gateway drug, but it only is because it's illegal. Kids are told it's a horrible drug, not to do it, it's illegal for their own good, etc. Then they try it. And it's only a little worse then smoking. So they think, this illegal drug wasn't so bad, I wonder about the other ones, are they so bad either? So they try other ones and get addicted.

But if marijuana was legal, we could tell kids, this is worse for you then smoking, so you shouldn't do it, but it's not nearly as bad as other drugs, so you can do it.

That would send a better message.

Plus you can tax it, which is always better for our economy.

Also, if we legalized it, it would cut down the amount of people in prisons by like 30-50%, so we wouldn't have to waste our time building more prisons.

Oh and you can't get physically addicted to marijuana, you can crave it, and want it, but not need it to feel normal like you do tobacco or most other drugs.

Every stoner wants pot legal because 'it's cool dood!!'...I promote the legalization with a number of prerequisites, of course. It should be regulated and distributed by the U.S. Government, strict laws should be enforced ie: legal age limits, DUI/DWI enforcements, and public intoxication citations...Also, we all know the classic argument about alcohol being legal.
