Yes they should legalize marijuana. They legalized booze.

Marijuana is not as harmful as booze.

Yeah that is just what we need.

A bunch of stupid pot heads parading down the streets with joints in their hands.

"Oh look at me I smoke pot, hey look Im so proud of my marijuana habit I have"

Maybe they can stumble over the drunks who are passed out on the sidewalk.

We can have like a fuckin' drug addict olympics on the streets of New York.

Maybe we could have the heroin pole vault or something.

well anyways, pot is illegal in canada right now, but won't be forever.

the only reason it's currently outlawed is because we don't have an effective way of measuring it.
eventually, a device the equivalent of the breathalyser will be accesible and when that day comes, pot will be legalized.
the goverment wouldn't pass up such an opportunity for profit..but...
driving impaired is driving impaired. anyone who isn't sober, does not belong behind the wheel of a vehicle. the goverment knows this. cops know this. they'll legalize pot just as soon as they have an effective tool for keeping stoners off the road.

There are pros and cons for legalizing it, but in my opinion I do not htink it should be decriminalized.

To start, I think that society would be less dangerous if the government controlled, grew, and distributed the marijuana as they do with tobacco right now. People wouldn't have to go to pushers; and therefore less street violence would occur.

On the other hand, the legalization of weed would increase the amount of it consumed. Let's face it, most everyone tries consuming alcohol within their lifetime since it's legal. Marijuana would be the same. People will do it because it's fun, as they dow ith alcohol. It is different from cigarettes because cigarettes is not fun and therefore less desirable (although I enjoy them).

If the government should legalize the use of marijuana there would be many uses (e.g. rope, medicare, recreation) that would create a wide profit. As well, it would attract tourists, I'd suspect, that would also increase the revenue (just as many people go to Amsterdam to get high legally).

For those who say that marijuanna is less harmful than tobacco, they are partly wrong. In terms of lung cancer, marijuana is worth about five times worse than cigarettes. However; there are more chemicals in cigarettes that can cause other "defects" than weed, because weed is not processed like tobacco in cigarettes.

Additionally, Hatchet you say that you have better driving habits when you are high; however the effects of marijuana is unpredictable. Your high may be different from somebody else's high, and if the marijuana is mixed with alcohol the effect is like a doubler and throws things even more out of focus.

I am a regular smoker of marijuana, but I do not want to see it legalized just because of the dangers it poses on the road and the sleezey reputation it would give our country - as well as the quality of life going down, as I would supposed would happen. (e.g. people slacking off in school because they are high. Personally, when I am high I get lazy and don't want to do anything :P)

Well, my history classis over lol so this will be the end of my post.
