Another debate topic coming to a monitor near you (actually right in front of your face since your reading this )!

The question is:

Should hunting for pure sport be legal? (This excludes any necessary hunting, such as thinning the population of deer near suburban areas)

Pure sport is bullshit, in simple words.

In more complicated words... I realize I'm hypocritical here because I eat meat but at least I'm not cruel about it. You want to hunt? Go out there and wrestle a bear with your bare (see what I did there?) hands or maybe little spikes attached to your hand then well... you worked for the kill (though you'll more than likely be killed, so yay, human population control).

Taking guns out to shoot animals is absurd.

And I was going to make this whole post "F*** (censored for AJ) hunting," but figured I should elaborate.

okay, the way i see it, hunting for sport is pointless i understand you rednecks enjoy it and all, but its truely sad that you don't completely use the animal. i've been hiking before on a friend of mines land and seen a deer that was shot with a arrow, his head was cut off from the shoulders up.. i ask my friend wtf that was about he said well some hunter his dad lets on the land probably kills it and just wanted that to mount it.. left the rest of it just laying there... if your not going to use it all or give it to someone that can use it... then its really not necessary. they make video games like big game hunter and deer hunter for those that want to do it for sport.

Doesn't look like its going to be much of a debate. I agree with you guys, unless its for a specific reason, I have a hard time agreeing with the principles of hunting for sport. You kill innocent animals, not too mention those that pretty much define the area your sporting. I mean, the woods are meant to be filled with bear, dear, and turkey.

If your living out in the country and you need some food, by all means, go ahead and kill the animal by whatever means necessary. We are at the top of the food chain for a reason. The fact remains, no other animal kills another species for the sport of it. It's uses all thats available with the remains and waits until it needs more resources before it moves on to the next kill.

Just to hang them in your living room and leave the rest behind is just plain wrong.

if someone truly wants a challenge then they need to do what someone said above, fight and kill it with your bare hands or at least give the animal a chance to fight, don't shoot it from a safe distance... thats just pansy... you want a real sport try walking up to a deer and killing it with a knife... i highly doubt it would let you get close enough to it, and if it did... u'd be lucky if it didn't kill you.

Hunting is fine as long as the animal is going to be used and it is not putting that species at risk.

I think hunting for pure sport is pretty wrong. If you are going to eat the animal, I think the story's different. If you are going to eat it, the human species, as omnivores, has the same right to kill and eat it that a bear has to kill and eat a fish. And I think we can use guns and other types of weapons to accomplish this, since the human species' strength is its ability to use tools to survive. We wouldn't be here now if we didn't figure that out.

But, no, hunting for sport with that whole "Well that's what they're here for: for us to kill," attitude shouldn't really be allowed (although I don't think the government has a right to ban it by law).

I think that's just ridiculous. They don't even stand a chance. Give them a chance, then we'll talk.

Humans cannot capture/kill almost any animal worth while without using weapons. It is rational to use weapons to kill animals if they are going to be put to good use.
