Re: End poverty? Here, balls.
All good and well saying end poverty, I completely agree, but to what standard? Are you going to be realistic about it or be a lickle revolutionary?
Get rid of capitalism? Nah, won't bother my arse, not going to happen, would inevitably cause more poverty, it just wouldnt be called poverty. how?
When the Soviets and Chinese turned to socialism (NOT communism) they brought in a standard, they erased poverty, poverty didnt exist, neither did being middle class/upper class or being well off, a classless society that squabbled in the muck and shite toghether. Do I want that? Do I fuck, and no one here would want it either.
Likewise, John Majors ideal or turning everyone into a middle class household, he wanted a classless society and I quite liked John Major if he wasnt such a boring fart, he had ideas different to Thatchers and never got a chance to express them realistically. But I didnt agree with his idea of classless either, his idea was that everyone became middle class, which would have ruined communities across the country, the tradition of the working class, our humour, contributions, erased.
What I propose is using the capitalist system in favour of poverty, parity of esteem between classes to rise the standards of the working class to a level we feel comfortable with. If you handed me a mansion and a million quid tomorrow I'd not know what to do with it, I'd have no interest in it and I have little interest in having loads of cash, I want to live comfortably and securely, and so do most of us, that doesnt change weither you are working class or middle class. Thats more classless than any of these false ideas and gospel-truths of left or right wing politics. |
