Ok, point out the obvious. Yes, you drink to get drunk. But lets go deeper into it...why is it socially acceptable, meaning that it's widely known and accepted. You go to a graduation party, high school graduation, parents will sometimes allow their 17/18 year old kids to drink with their friends, I know the grad parties I went to did.
I'm more asking why our society accepts alcohol as a valid form of intoxication, blatantly marketing towards children and young adults (like everything basically), when it's clearly one of the most destructive forms of intoxication you can take part in.
If anyone was thinking of bringing up the drinking age and saying it should be 18 (for the grad party comment), I'll agree. If you're old enough to enlist in the army and go die for someone else's disagreements, then you should be able to slowly kill yourself and drown those thoughts away.
