Hey Guys, I have installed a new pc and I want to know your opinion about the anti-virus which is good. And also mentioned anti-virus your currently using?

I think McAcfee is good because I had use Norton as well as McAfee before and I had no issue with it?

What you say guys?

I have McCafee now. It's free with Comcast internet. If I have any more problems I think I might switch to Avast. Don't go for just any free one, though. If your anti-virus program tells you its catching 20-30 viruses and trojans a day, it's probably lying.

I prefer AVG over Norton..

I went to AVG because Norton 2004 refused to remove the 25 viruses I had one day...
"To remove these threats you must reboot your computer"
kept rebooting, kept telling me to reboot. Gave up, formatted hard drive and installed AVG

Then Norton 2007 on my dad's pc deleted the executable for one of the games I had on my flash drive without telling me why or even that it did it. I just know that it was Norton because I tried it on dads laptop with also has Norton and it deleted it too

lol

I've had experience with both McAfee and Norton.

Honestly, I find Norton is made out to be more than it really is. I have experienced numerous problems with it and it ended up causing me more problems than any viruses it would have intercepted.

McAfee is a great product. My computer runs smoothly - virus free, spyware free, etc. And McAfee doesn't waste my time with ridiculous things or waste valuable system resources for nothing.

So in my opinion, check out the McAfee family of software - you won't regret it.

Also be sure to pickup Spybot Search & Destroy! It's free and very well respected in the technology community.

I'll recommend one final piece of software and that is Windows Defender - it works to battle Spyware, Popups, Slow Performance, and much more. It's also free to those with XP and Vista.

I've also heard good things about SpyZooka, Avast! and AVG. The last two are free.

I forgot about windows defender. My computer is in desperate need of a good program. I'm sure there is spyware but I can't seem to get rid of it. I tried AVG but it didn't come up with anything.
