No, but you also have to understand that someone else is paying for it, although it doesnt cost them any extra for you to use their wireless network. So no, it isnt actually stealing, your not taking anything from them, but you may be borrowing something without asking. And also as previously mentioned, they have the choice to secure their network so no one could have access.

I use my neighbors wireless network, but he has given me permission to do so. He doesnt care. He said it doesnt cost him any extra and he knows I need the internet for school.

But if you have WiFi, and you needed or wanted to access the internet, and your WiFi detector picked up someone elses network, you would probably use it.

Wouldnt you ??? Yeah you would, dont lie. You wouldnt use free internet ??? Yeah, right.

Its o.k.

Stealing wifi is stealing as much as stealing cable tv is stealing. It may be minor and easier to get but that doesn't make it automatically okay.

point is some states secure or not are saying any access without permission is stealing and thus a crime, and thus punishable. so in reality over the next 5 years probably it will be either considered a crime or not a crime and depending on your state im sure your mind will change accordingly...
