Default dementia

Making this short.
I have my concerns...sure.
What happens if I lose my way home or start wandering away from family and friends.
I see the commercials on dementia / Alzheimer and the medication(s) presented in slowing it down.
Now there is a new study out by cardiologists saying more controlling of blood pressure will reduced the risks.
High blood pressure along with obesity/diabetes may trigger dementia.
From Univ. of Pittsburgh...
Quote:
In a flurry of new research, scientists scanned people's brains to show hypertension fuels a kind of scarring linked to later development of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Those scars can start building up in middle age, decades before memory problems will appear.
The evidence is strong enough that the National Institutes of Health soon will begin enrolling thousands of hypertension sufferers in a major study to see if aggressive treatment _ pushing blood pressure lower than currently recommended _ better protects not just their hearts but their brains.

Personally I don't think there is a sure fire control or prevention.

We wish to pursue the truth no matter where it leads. But to find the truth, we need imagination and skepticism both. We will not be afraid to speculate, but we will be careful to distinguish speculation from fact. The cosmos is full beyond measure of elegant truths; of exquisite interrelationships; of the awesome machinery of nature.

"Lemme tell you somethin' you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a mean, ugly, nasty place. And I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you down to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it! You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward."

If anybody can cure my inevitable, genetic stupidity, I will be very happy.
