my old computer had only a Pentium 3 450mhz processor, it was like one of the my first computers, it came with windows 98 second edition (don't know the difference between that and the original edition) and then I upgraded it to windows xp, and it ran pretty well, it I didn't have lots of stuff on the hard drive. My brother got a new one not to long after that, it was a dell web pc, it only had a Celoron processor in that one, and that ran alot better. (prolly because the 450mhz one only had 128 mb ram in it and the dell had 512. My brother still uses the web pc today. So don't be upset that your still using a Pentium 4, lol

Well who cares if it is "old" or not, if it does what it should why complain?

old isnt always bad, I was with my science teacher after school today and we were trying to run Flight Simulator X on a 2000's pc.

averaged at 9 fps

Pentium III 500Mhz
320MB RAM
NVIDIA RIVA TNT 16MB

if you read the requirements, youll see those are WAY below the requirements...most of the specs are about half of what microsoft wants you to have. And it ran OK my P4 3000Mhz gets 12fps with its 7600GS...so I think my desktop is kinda screwed up because it should run alot better than a Riva TNT...

but overall theyre all about the same speed

I wanna get a Phenom though....
AMD FTW!
what does FTW stand for? i know what WTF is but what is FTW?

anyways, the computer im running right now is a amd phenom quad core 9500 at 2.20 gighertz

i had the top of the line intels and just don't see the difference i see when i run amd...

they are both good processors but lets put things in perspective

amd love to be run hot, they thrive on it... intel doesn't..

amd are more userfriend you can overclock them easier than an intel

i guess if you want to put it in a better perspective intel is like mac and amd is like pc...

i know that doesn't make alot of since but its true... its always the intel people that swear by intel like the mac people swear by the macs...

the amd people usually don't care what they have but they have amd cause its cheaper and runs just as good infact better on most test.

gamers perfer amd to intel... i'd says it a 3:1 ratio...

and i don't care what anyone says the amd tbird 1.5 gigherts was the best chip ever created! woohoo i still have a pc running that it and works like a charm. even to this day. and its probably going on 5 or 6 years old.

If you look at the requirements for Flight Simulator X...
  • Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista
  • Processor: 1.0 Ghz
  • RAM: Windows XP SP2 - 256MB, Windows Vista – 512MB
  • Hard Drive: 14GB
  • Video Card: 32MB DirectX 9 compatible
  • Other: DX9 hardware compatibility and audio board with speakers and/or headphones
  • Online/Multiplayer Requirements: 56.6 kbps or better for online play
then compare it to the system I ran it on....(ran the demo, the comp didnt have a DVD drive)

500Mhz Pentium III
320MB of RAM
16MB nvidia RIVA TNT

that old system got 8fps...yet my 3Ghz Intel Pentium 4 gets 12fps with its 7600GS and 1.5gb of ram...wtf?
anyway, what really surprised me is how fast that Pentium 3 booted WinXp. 20-30 seconds...the longest time it spent at one screen was when it was counting the RAM.
