why are you interested in American politics? i suppose its better to be informed about them, since the rest of the world usually feels the result of it and you are our friendly neighbor to the north. so, good job!

i hate all the candidates, except for my boy Ron "Balls to the Wall" Paul!! unfortunately, he's said he won't run as an Independent if he doesn't make the bill, which will take a miracle. i find it hard to believe the fear mongering right will let Ronny run as their representative, since at all the debates they constantly belittle him and argue with him and ask why he's even running as a republican.

i dont know who's going to win the election, and i really don't care. i pray to God it's not Hillary Clinton, i hate that stupid bitch. i also pray its not Rudy Gulliani, what the fuck experience does he have to bring? o thats right, I'm sorry, 9/11.

all the Dems are spineless pussies, all the Republicans are fear mongering war lords. my guess is the GOP steals another election somehow. if not that, then my second prediction would be Barack O'bama winning and getting assassinated, launching us into a new, constant war and desolate police state.

That's exactly it, I'm concerned with and interested in the presidential election entirely because it affects me as a Canadian -- economically, socially, politically, and in the court of public opinion.

I think it's going to be Obama v. McCain. I really only say Obama because I have a hate on for Hillary, mostly because she seems to believe that video games are the root of all evil. She's silly.

It's not really UNIVERSAL health care I don't think. Compared to the U.S. system, yeah, but in and of itself, not so.

For me, I don't pay for any medical care because my mother is a member of the NSGEU (Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union), and as such has 100% medical and dental coverage for herself, my dad and myself through Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She pays something like $28/month, and the two fillings I had to do last week (which should have cost me $300) cost nothing.

I have my reservations about how well that kind of system would work in the U.S. A lot of that is because I don't totally understand how it works for me, haha, all I know is what I pay or don't pay.

i don't understand how that shit works either, but if i could get free health care shit like that, in theory, it sounds good. but i don't know what it means or what needs to be done to get it, or the effects having it would have.

they're calling it socialized medicine though; they always have to have another name. so, does having universal-ish health care in Canada make you guys commies or what? whats so evil about it?

I feel like health care should be a universal human right. I always have.

I agree, which is why I don't understand why the republicans talk about it like its the plague. They want privatized medicine, which I suppose is better for the corporations who's pockets their hands are in...not that the Dem's are innocent of that.

You're very right, neither party is innocent of wanting to line their pockets with gold. The problem of course with that type of health care is exactly that it is costly for the government. Canada I feel did the right thing and made it a staple of our political system and have been revered for it, the States I feel should follow suit, but people should be ready to be disappointed for the first little while as they work the kinks out.
