Default President Bush to Veto Military Defense Bill

Later today, United States President George W. Bush is expected to veto a proposed military defense bill. This bill entails a 3.5% increase in military salaries, as well as increased funding to programs and funds set up to aid retired and disabled veterans.

Of course. Why would you want to pay people more or help senior citizens?

Wow. He's really going to veto a bill that pays soldiers more money and aids retired and disabled veterans? What does he think that money would be better spent on?

I think presidents these days become scapegoats for everything bad that happens to the country, but he really isn't doing a good job of leading.

Yeah we are supposed to be the big ol' super power, and that is becoming harder and harder to say.

I find it ironic that a "war President" leading a "war economy" is vetoing a military spending bill.

Q: How do you get a war President to veto more money to the military?
A: Try and give that money to soldiers and veterans instead of Homeland Security and Haliburton.

why would he pay soldiers that are held accountable to rules of war when he could just as easily use that money and pay "contractors" to carry weapons and murder with no liability? it's smart business sense if you ask me. besides, what does Bush care? he doesn't have to actually face any realities caused by the stroke of his pen.

Yeah, exactly. The military needs the money more than anyone. If not they shouldn't even fight.

I wouldn't exactly agree that the military needs the money MORE THAN ANYONE, but, I do agree that the people within the military deserve more for what they go through. Literally, we can't thank them enough.
