I'm not trying to convince you of anything, but it seems odd to me that people put their faith in men, who are historically the most untrustworthy beings on earth. (And everything after that)
Yep. We rely on men to tell us that God exists and that this is his word in the Bible. You also assume that all of America is Christian and wants to pledge to God. I don't think I want to pledge my allegiance to a country just because I was born in it. If I'm going to pledge allegiance to anything, it will be to my own ideals (I'll have to think some up first, too. That reminds me, I need to get a motto. Those things rock.)

And I know Christians preach peace, but most also assume that other faiths and those of no faith are going to spend an eternity suffering for not taking one belief over another. It's even a commandment that you have to be Jewish or Christian. That makes little sense to me since you'll only care abou thtose rules if you are Jewish or Christian.

Anyway, that's that. On topic, the kid had every right to write up that little poem about censoring religion, and I don't think under god should be removed from the pledge, but I also don't think schools should have kids recite the pledge and I still don't think that the lord's word holds any sway over a public school full of public people.

You could've made the thread titled "The pledge" and consolidated the two different pledge threads you made. Because that is a good topic of debate. You could've mentioned something about the man who represented himself in court against the pledge, and how well he defended himself and his child's rights. It is still, although related to a good topic, spam e-mail. You can post spam e-mails if you want, just know I will call you on them. And I hope that doesn't make you not wanna post...I like to argue, don't take it too seriously.

WHY DON'T YOU VOTE!?!?! They may not count all the votes, but if there is ever to be a peaceful resolution to all the shit in this country, it'll have to be from the democratic process. The lack of people participating over the years is why it no longer works...who am I kidding?

i don't vote because i don't believe the system. it has flaws... so im sure u'll agree with me on that... especially now that its electronic voting... one virus.... trojan... even spyware could screw our country into any president that not the majority voted for... just because they thought it'd be funny. how funny would it be if obama became president a month later was assassinated then someone fessed up and said... i changed the electronic votes from mccain to obama cause i wanted him to die.? now if that isn't a conspiracy theory what is?

note: i used mccain cause apparently everyone thinks im trying to push him on everyone anyways....

That is as good a response as I can expect.

What religion says and what people do are two entirely different things. I believe that leaders often use religion to control people, as it is typically the nature of religious people to be docile and gullible. At the same time, they manipulate themselves, because they don't want to accept that what they are doing is wrong. They seem to think that God overpowers all of the rules. While that is true, they don't consider who put those rules in place and why...

I agree. And for some reason I just got a really strange deja vu feeling reading and responding to this post.
