If we all listened to our own hearts we wouldn't be searching so long for the "right thing to do." People who are going to kill or steal won't be easily deterred by someone commanding them not to. Crime just can't be helped much.

I'm still wondering how the 10 commandments are the basis for our modern law code. I've heard this claim many times before and it just isn't true. At least in the US, I am not too familiar with the laws of other countries.
