Default Sunday is Payday

Should a paycheck determine the call for the clergy/ministers/rabbis ?
Taking a guess on the pay scale is low for priests, moderate for ministers.
Not mentioning the church(Protestant),they were looking for a new minister.
The elder minister had retired after years of service.
Resumes were presented.
They were asking for salaries ranging from $50,000 to $75,000 a year.
With todays economy mixing with a drop in membership this is too high.

I know for a fact becoming a priest is rewarding.
Talking to one of my friends who is Catholic sited a drop in men going into the priesthood.
He claims the pay is low which may be one reason not to join. I have to admit being surprised.
" Sure I may decide getting a preacher job if the pay is right."
I believe the concentration should be on the followers...not a paycheck.

Sometimes you see ministers doing better preaching & making less pay than those making more not saying a thing.

Don't priests take a vow of poverty?

I am not sure.
I think priests are on a small salary.

I am trying to figure out the poverty part.
I am guessing living comfortably with the amenities provided.
Nothing more or less.

Yea the whole poverty thing doesn't add up to me, either.

Try going to Niger and explaining that poverty means "living comfortably with amenities provided for you".

Most priests live in parish houses.
These are homes like ours...furnished kitchen, bath, living and dining rooms.I define these as amenities.
They are not dumps but modest living.
