Default intelligent arguments for god

Basicaly i am looking for a solid theory of god.

looking more for theories to support then challange, but either are more then welcome.

i have challanges to most theories of god, so in the intrests of avoiding offence please state if you would like me to give challanges or not. the reason behind this is that some people have defence for these challenges and so on. it also sparks intresting descussions, which i love.(not arguments)

this is not a mission to disprove what you think on my behalf, it is a genuine intrest into why people beleve, what they beleve, and how they arrived at that belife, i have a lot of curiosety into how people travel diffrent paths and arrive at religion as the answer.

personally i am agnostic.

This could end up being a good thread. My issue with logical proofs of or against God is that the people who believe in God use bad logic like how the Earth is just the right distance from he sun for life to form. Obviously that's why it's Earth with life and not planets like Mercury or Neptune. Against God, the arguments tend to gravitate toward that people back in Jesus's time were willing to believe anything they were told, while if someone claimed to be the son of God today, we'd think they're nuts. While that's true, it's not a proof. Also, people tend to make religion vs. atheism discussions assuming that there is either no supreme power or that the Christian god exists. I've never seen a thread here debating whether or not Hinduism is correct or incorrect. Of course, I haven't seen many, if any, Hindu people here.

In my opinion, there is no logical argument for god, that is why it is called "faith" in god.

Well there are logical arguments for some form of higher being.

I don't know, and I'm not advocating them. I know you want to start discussion, but I'm on the other side of the table.

View this site for a lot of good arguments against Christianity. They make a lot of sense if you find that you agree with some of them.

As Lunchbox says, the belief of God is founded not on logical argumentation, but rather, solely on faith.

P.S. I find it interesting that though you don't believe in God, you believe in the soul.

lunch box hit the nail on the head for me, however there are some arguments that i have come across that come damn close to being logical aregumets for god. if no one hear has any new ones i will post the ones i know to see what you think.

the soul as i see it is far removed from religion in all its forms

http://www.puretalkforum.com/f67/cas...on-t-4487.html (The case for God...what atheists don't want you to see.)

There's AJ's essay on intelligent arguments for God. (If you didn't know, AJ is the former owner of this site before he sold it to Kovich, though I haven't seen Kovich around here lately...)

Anyway, he makes some good points, if you'd care to see them, and the other people in teh thread make some good points against him. While we're on that topic, there's also various other religious threads here that are along these lines. Check those out, too.
