Another point I would like to make is that, if one does not believe in a certain religion, and that religion turns out to be true (such as if there IS a god), I do not think that that qualifies one to be condemned. Churches try to scare people into thinking that if they do not go to them they will go to hell. I think Satan would just say "F--- you, they're your problem now, god," if everyone who did not believe were sent to him. Therefore, to me, religion is more of a guide to live than a strict code. People, though, for the most part have natural inclinations toward good will, and would not steal or kill unless their lives depended on it. People who would do these things would not be easily detered by stories of hell, and I conclude that religion is a good thing to have, but hardly neccessary.

Who is this God person anyway?

If God can create anything then can he create a rock that he cannot lift?

huh, religion its a great idea. faith confuses me.

I think I've found a personal proof of God. Not that I'll go to church or anything, but it's an idea. I'm in 8th grade science, which is physics, learning about energy and matter and how they behave, and I'm thinking, "How did all these laws come to be? Why do things work out this way? It makes no sense!" I have concluded that perhaps there is a higher force (not necessarily any god we on Earth know of) that thought up all of these rules to govern its new universe. Therefore, I will say that I am glad I am not on medication, or I would probably start believing this crap.

I think I might have to side with Scott Mosier (producer of Kevin Smith "Askew-niverse" movies) and say that I'm an agnostic. I'm open to the concept of religion -- hell, I've even prayed as recently as.. I suppose last month, which I suppose makes me a huge flaming hypocrite -- but I've not ever had a religious experience, nor do I have much reason to believe that it can be proven. I won't say it's inherantly unknowable or anything -- to do so would basically be to say that life is 100% subjective which I do not believe to be true.

If we're talking MASS religion here.. very much against it. I don't think it's necessary to all gather in the same place, read the same book over and over again, or else you go to Hell. I know that's a very biased and abridged version of mass religious practices, but that's how I look at it right now.

I don't see why people care so much if it can be proven or not.

The scientific people believe that since it seems ludicrous that there is a god that there is not. The religious believe that faith overpowers fact and that there is a god just because they were brought up to believe in one. I guess that's why proof seems so important. One side rejects god for lack of it, the other wants nothing to do with it. Then there are those who try to find proof. And those who try to find a real disproof, if anyone has bothered to watch the movie in my last post. It's long, I know, like half an hour, but it really is interesting.

It wasn't a "I don't understand why" type of comment, it was more along the lines of "I think it's stupid." But anyways, unless you're a dumb fuck then believing in God doesn't hurt anybody so it seems like a moot point to me.

But you know what, quite a few problems in this world seem so shit basic and moot to me because some of them are so unbelievably easy to solve (in theory) that it sickens me that they can't be solved. But I think that's a bit off topic.
