You always miss the point AJ. I wasn't telling you not to spread the word. I was saying don't act like you're better than everyone because you believe in God.

But go on getting insulted and defensive, it doesn't really matter.

How am I acting better than everyone by trying to help people who want to change? If I seem like I'm acting better than everyone to you, then I'm sorry, but I don't think I am. I am not better than anyone. I am a sinner, and a big one. Happy?

It was the way you worded it AJ. It reaks of "I'm better than you but I'm going to make it seem like I'm trying to help." A lot of the post was informative and fine, but my issue was with the "horse blinders over their eyes" and the "change for the better."

Because if they believed in God that doesn't mean they'd be better people. Atheists aren't bad people by default.

That's all. I think that if you got rid of those two comments then your post would be fine and I can't see why anybody would really argue it.

I'm not going to edit my post, but I am sorry that you feel offended. Some people do have horse blinders on their eyes, of sorts. It's not their fault, that's just the way they are. What I'm saying is for them to come back when they're more open minded. My post isn't going to do them any good if they're not open. That's all I meant by that. And the change for the better...well, I don't really have a comment on that. Christianity is a change for the better. A better Earthly life, and a better afterlife.

And you're right. No one is bad by default. In fact, everyone is good by default.

I don't feel offended! You can't offend me AJ. But I give up. I tried to help you "convert" people but you wouldn't take heed.

And that's it. Done in this thread. Off to better things.

OK, well I apologize anyway. The purpose of my post was not to make argument.

See you later.

When someone says that they don't believe in God, it doesn't offend me. At all. All it does is makes me want to know why so I can try and answer their questions and possibly bring them to Christ. Yes, it's true, there are some people who will never believe, just because they're too set in their ways. But a lot of people can be changed for the better.
I don't think I could just change. Sure, I could deduct this: if I'm right, there's no harm done if I accept Christianity. If I'm wrong, I could spend an eternity in hell. That's scary in and of itself, but even if I joined a church and listened to the sermons, I'd just be lying to myself and to god if I really am wrong. I don't think it's about being open-minded or about being blind. And I don't think that if you don't believe in Christianity that makes you a worse person than you might otherwise be.

As for why I am primarily atheistic, I suppose it is in part due to that nobody reinforced the idea in me after I was about 3 years old. I don't really know exactly how it all came into being, but right now I simply just can't accept that there could be a god just because some people say there is.

Anyway, I'll get out of this thread, too, until something comes along worth replying to.

Well I'm actually a fan of this:
GodTube.com - Please view the comments. Lifehouse Everything Skit.

Of course some will see it as super lame.

I just watched it. I guess the symbolism and everything was good, but I didn't feel particualry moved by it like the people in the comments. I don't consider it lame, really, considering it's an art form I don't really understand enough to appreciate (if I did do such kinds of dancing I would probably like it more). You know what I like about GodTube? The verbal battles between the good Christians there and the asses who just go there to tell them they're obsessive and wrong. I mean, I don't do that, even if I feel that way about something on there. Although, since I really haven't explored the site much, I haven't seen too much.
