Default Puppies Cloned

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Booger is back. An American woman received five puppies Tuesday that were cloned from her beloved late pitbull, becoming the inaugural customer of a South Korean company that says it is the world's first successful commercial canine cloning service.

Cloning has been a constant topic for debate even then and now it's here. "It's a miracle!" McKinney who paid 50 Grand for the puppies repeatedly shouts. Is the world ready for clones? Can you see yourself having your dead pet cloned?

I don't have any real well thought out opinion on the subject but cloning just doesn't feel right to me. Just, off.

*sigh* Cloning body parts for translant is good but animals purely for entertainment? Not a chance in hell is this a good thing. We have enough homeless animals without adding cloned ones to the mix.

I wouldn't. As much as I might love a pet, a clone is not the same thing. THere's no point to animal cloning except for experimental procedures that would better be done on body parts anyway. If the new president lets us use stem cells from the babies who were aborted and are just taking up space maybe we can save more lives and take the next step toward elongating life.

Though I don't think a dog cloned for $50,000 would risk becoming homeless at all , it's not something I'd go for either. Cloning organs is something I'm all for and if we could have that now the better what with organs being sold at black markets (Still happening).

In any case, the way some people treat their pets better than people, we may see more cloning services in the future.

Not enough people treat their pets better than people, given the amount of needless abuse they suffer at the hands of us. Like, we have to make it up to them. I'm not talking about eating them (though that counts too), I'm mainly talking about the torture they go through.

Anyways, onto cloning..

But why would you clone a pet that you loved? It's not resurrection. You can get a new one, perhaps of a different species or variety, or the same, and you'd be just as well off. With cloning, it'll look the same (in theory, since it could always get a disease that affects its development) and maybe even behave similarly, but it's not the same thing. There's no need to have a pet cloned. If we could perfect the art, we could clone an army of Janga Fetts, but I don't think a lot of people will give that support.
