Manuel Osuna allegedly attacked his 42-year-old ex-girlfriend after she dropped off her son at Gates Elementary School and walked about two blocks from the school, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
He jumped out of a white Dodge Stratus and allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times at Larkwood Lane and Rockfield Boulevard, leaving her on the sidewalk with wounds to her stomach and neck and bleeding profusely, Amormino said.
The woman managed to scream out to a passing motorist to go to the school and tell authorities that the boyfriend, who is not the son's father, had no authorization to take the child, Amormino said.
The school then was placed on lockdown.
Meanwhile, Osuna ran to the home of an older woman in the 23700 block of Brasilia St. in Mission Viejo and demanded that she drive him to Rancho Santa Margarita. He took her car keys and got into her vehicle but was chased away while trying to start it, Amormino said.
Osuna got of the car and, while trying to break into another home, was "taken down" by a sheriff's dog, Amormino said.
At that point, Osuna stabbed himself in the neck, Amormino said.
Both the man and woman were in critical condition at Mission Hospital and Regional Medical Center.

Damn... Crime is getting CLOSER and CLOSER to where I live... and in 2005, Mission Viejo (2 miles away) was the 3rd safest city in the United States!
