Question Five minutes to midnight?

Dealing with Iran | A countdown to confrontation | Economist.com
"Another choke-point is the Natanz enrichment facility; but this is buried some 15-18 metres under soil and concrete, and modern bunker-busting bombs might not be able to destroy it. The use of ground forces to secure the area long enough to do the job would be highly risky; the use of a low-yield nuclear weapon, as some suggest, might work physically but is hardly conscionable politically—or morally."
This is a bit of a long read, but it's also one of the more important issues today, internationally. It's also a bad situation, all around, and the last sentence in the article is a perfect summary.

Does this have to do with the "world-ending-by-nuclear-destruction" clock? My friend did a current event on this before, Doomsday, i think

The "Doomsday Clock" was started in the 1950s, I think, pointing out that with a Cold War between two nuclear super-powers, we managed to bring ourselves closer to doomsday than we've ever been as a species. A lot like the "Simpsons Already Did It" episode of South Park, where Cartman keeps sea monkeys, mixes in splooge, and they start evolving quickly, getting smarter and smarter, until they destroy themselves in a war.

Hopefully we're too smart for that. But sometimes it seems bad...
