basically what it is, is a small town in Louisiana that is still segregated, and this black kid sat underneath a tree that was only for white people, the next day, the same tree had nooses in the schools colors hanging from it. of course that sparked fights between the two races, and so the District Attorney comes down and threatens the black kids, tells them he can make their lives disappear with the stroke of a pen, tells them the nooses are just a "youthful stunt" and all 6 of the black kids get charged with second degree murder because they kicked the shit outta this racist white kid. the DA ended up droppin the charges down to just second degree assault but the one black kid charged as an adult in this now faces 22 years in prison! can you fathom that? serving 22 years in prison because someone hung a noose, insinuating you're death?

Not that it's a surprise, I mean, this is just an example of North America being blatant about their racism instead of trying to hide it a bit.

Isn't segregation illegal in the US now? How can we legally still have a town with things for only white people and things for black people?

It's this kind of stuff that reminds us that people can't rely on the law for everything. Nor can anyone take it upon themselves to fix things because then the law will turn on them.

And what then? With a law system as we have this kind of racism is overlooked. Without law, nothing will regulate racism. Is there another system that might work?
