Oops missed that sentence. Either way, my point stands. Self-esteem comes from within, not from a bunch of strangers and from her boyfriend. It's nice to hear from other people but that's not going to make a difference in her own opinion of herself. If she thinks she's pretty and just wants to hear it from others, thats one thing. That is not the vibe i get.

vibe or no vibe, you never know someones reaction to anything and you really can steriotype it as such... maybe thats how you would feel, but she might react in a completely different way... not all people with self esteem issues handle things the same way...

Sorry to disappoint you but my comments were meant specifically for the_k and since he has responded to any of them, I no longer see the point in discussing this.

I would however like to add that I'm not stereotyping. The essence of self-esteem in based in your own opinion of yourself. If you dont truly believe something, all the outside influence in the world is going to change that. That's not a stereotype or a personal opinion, its the essence of self esteem. Other people can effect that to a point but it's not going to start a ball rolling where there is no ball. It's only when you start to believe it even a tiny bit, that others opinions make a difference. Note that this is a bit different for young children but they not applicable here.
