just because you tell him that he's making a mistake doesn't mean that he believe it... sometimes people have to learn for themselves in other words he's already done it she knows about it... to late to turn back, he'll have to see how it affects her and see if your right, maybe this girl is different.

Often people learn when others tell them they are making mistakes. Self-esteem isn't a debatable subject, people react differently but the framework is the same for everyone. There's a difference between enjoying hearing that you are pretty and needing that to feel it about yourself (which is what this case seems to be). For example, I enjoy, on occasion, strangers hitting on me. It reminds that others do find me attractive and it's always nice to be wanted. I don't need that however, I know I'm attractive and don't need some 25 year old hitting on me in the park to remind me of that. If you need to hear others think you are pretty/handsome/smart thats a self esteem issue and all the comments in the world won't fix the problem. Sometimes, it helps a little but it won't fix the problem.

often? probably not even half... doesn't matter how many times my dad tells me im making a mistake, i'll eventually end up making it anyways cause i learn by doing... sometimes its not even a mistake at all.. just a different way of getting to the same point. more people that not learn this way, so no matter what you say there still going to do what they want to do... sure you have the occasional few that believe everything they are told... and those few often do not have minds of their own. if you always just assume that what someone is telling you is true then your nothing more than a drone / zombie without a brain.

I meant that it's starts the process. People rarely learn something without ever being told they are making a mistake. I'm not advocating taking peoples word for it all the time, you should know me better than that! Take what people say, think about it, mull it over, consider the logic and supporting evidence then decide for yourself. Critical thinking is my middle name!

so your saying if you hadn't pointed this fact out to him once he presented his results to his girlfriend he wouldn't have gotten the same results if you had not said anything at all?

the problem you pointed out is the same, he knows she has a self esteem issue, i highly doubt she would have let him post her pictures if it was that big of an issue to her. i'd say that 90% of females respond in this way to being told they are beautiful or pretty etc... its a way of a girl brushing off a comment rather than accepting it and looking like she is self centered... not all girls that say this have self esteem issues... i'd be willing to bet that the greater portion do have self esteem issues.

i still think his results will have a positive affect on her considering she willingly let him post her photos, now her not wanting to show her face, this could be she just wants anonymity or she has deeper issue with that area.

it's an anonymity issue since her face...I can stare at it for hours...believe me, her face is very,very pretty
