What's your favorite movie genre and why? I'm gonna stay out of this one until it's progressed a little further.

Comedy for sure. I like a good laugh.

Answer to fit in with society:
I don't know what my favourite genre is. But my favourite movies are things like Fight Club, Pan's Labyrinth, Gummo and V for Vendetta.
So by that we got
Fight Club:thriller/drama/action/black comedy
Pan's Labyrinth: fantasy/war drama
Gummo: A really weird plotless drama.
V for Vendetta: action/sci fi/drama/thriller

if we're being simple. So I suppose drama/thriller is my favourite.

To not fit in:
Genres don't exist and they're just silly concepts made by critics and unfortunately, some artists, to describe their work and seperate things. Because not everybody wants to take chances and sometimes you can't sell a dark twisted thriller to an audience that likes Dumb and Dumber as their favourite movie.
But it's ridiculous because there's so many sub genres and there's so much in those genres it's hard to tell what something is sometimes so you get somethings that are just laundry lists of genres.

Hm. I like Pan's Labyrinth and V for Vendetta. I know what Fight Club is about but never watched it. Never heard of Gummo.
Can't say really what my favorite genre is. I love movies like V for Vendetta and The Matrix trilogy, but also comedies like Young Frankenstein and Spaceballs. And Kung Fu Hustle. But I guess I can say I like action type ones and comedies.
And I had a feeling this wouldn't be too much of a debate, but I wanted to start a thread here and couldn't think of a topic.

And watch Gummo. Watch anything Harmony Korine makes. The guy is a genius.

Comedys, i like them the best, dont know why just do, also cool documentarys (woodstock, supersize me etc.) and band movies like that folow them on a tour or interesting ones like pink floyds the wall, which i recommend to anyone who likes deep storys, even if they are acid induced
