Most of them try to be good but they are as a group ignorant and vehemently resistant to any kind of change.

Yes, but what is good to them? Is that truly a good thing to do? My friend said to me the other day, "I think that for the most part, human beings are good." I really dont think so.

As a whole, they are very selfish and most of them care only about themselves and their own comfort. They dont care about other species of life or the Earth. They have seperated themselves from nature and forgotten that from which they came, which will ultimately lead to their destruction.

And then there are individuals like me who really care and really want to help, human beings and all life on this planet. If the best thing for me to do would be to lay down in the woods and rot, then I would do it.

I think creativity is one of the good things, one of the most amazing and beautiful aspects of human beings, art and music, and the diversity among human beings, their individual expression, they are, for the most part, all different in some ways.

I hope that humans learn and survive as a species, and one day, our children will be born without character flaws like jealousy, anger, hatred, and will use their power to help, instead of harming others, but then I have to ask myself, are all of these characteristics part of what makes human beings human, not necessarily from an individual standpoint, but as a whole? It seems to me that human beings require invidivduals who are basically sacrificial examples that help other members of the species recognize or discover certain aspects about themselves and their own nature.

Thats why I dont hate people who do evil things, because alot of them cant help it. They are just being themselves. So I try to keep an open mind and understand everyone and respect them for being themselves.

This is how we have evolved on this planet.

Good is subjective. People try to be what they see as ideal.

Yes exactly, but we could agree that the sky is blue right?

I have to look at things objectively, based on observation.

If we both observe a red ball bounce on the ground, we could agree that a red ball just bounced on the ground. We can observe human beings and agree that what they are doing is harmful to themselves and to other species of life, which they have been conditioned to believe is o.k. for them to do.

If human beings really cared about themselves and the Earth and other animals, then they would change, but these people care more about the economy than the environment.

So something has to happen to make people wake up and care. Something has to happen to make them change.

By nature, I think all life is bent on its own survival. By default we fear death and pain. By default we want to be comfortable and well-fed. Also, by default, we look to leaders to tell us what to do. Does this help? It sure helps when we have order and everyone pitching in to survive as a group, but then when the leaders decide to send the people under them to fight to the death, they've crossed a line.

Society currently decides what is right and wrong. How can we help it? We grew up around milk and beef. I think it is wrong to raise animals just to milk and kill them, and stick them full of steroids and hormones, but what can I do? The most I could do is become a vegetarian or start hunting my own meat.

We do seem to all have basic morals, though. That makes us "good". We also have greed and a desire for personal benefits. Does that really make us so bad? It all depends on how far you go.

Yes its true, even bacteria are involved in this struggle to evolve and survive and become the dominant species on this planet, but much like cancer, human beings dont know when to stop. They have become a threat to themselves and to all life on this planet. Like a child with a toy that I have to take that toy away from you because your hurting other children and your hurting yourself, so now I have to put you in time out for a while and you can cry and think about what you've done.

Is everyone "pitching in" helping us survive? People think they are doing something "good" by going to work everyday, but what are they doing, really? They are destroying the planet, making money so they can buy food and gas, but it would actually be better if everyone just stopped and tacked solar panels on every roof and we grew our own fruits and vegetables.

People have been conditioned to live this way and all we can do is recognize that this is not o.k. or normal or good. The first thing we have to do is stop burning fossil fuels and grow our own fruits and vegetables and use hemp as a rotation crop.

I understand that everyone is selfish. I like living indoors, having running water and electricity, but we could all still have these things and improve the quality of life for everyone on this planet, including the animals.

Yes becoming a vegetarian would be a very good thing to do.

But you also have to understand that its not entirely these peoples fault, because they have been brainwashed and conditioned to think and live this way, and I know I wont get anywhere by just calling people stupid and ignorant. They really dont know any better, and Im not saying that makes what they are doing alright. Its like you said, they were raised on milk and hamburgers, but so was I and I was able to change, so, it is possible.

The answer is easy to see, but once you get out there and really start trying to help people, the problem becomes much more complex, because they really dont know or understand. So dont be surprised when people look at you like your crazy, laugh, or dont want your help, because half of them would rather just eat a steak, drive a V-8, and self-destruct. They will justify how they live anyway possible, by using the Bible, or the cycle of life bullshit theory.

So then that brings me back to hurricanes, earthquakes, and tidal waves. Maybe they will listen after 90% of the population has been wiped out.

I just wish I had a spaceship and could pick up all of the cool people and fly to another planet, or just fly at the speed of light to a certain point in the universe, then come back after all of this is over.

Well, I was referring to early civilization (which is why we have modern civilization). People banded together to survive, and once they started to farm, they started up villages, towns, and cities. When a community is that small, everybody needs to be doing something, whether you own the farm, work on it, or make the clothing and tools that aid the farmers. Then we have kingdoms and whatnot with numerous cities under one "God appointed" king who decides he wants to fight another king for land. Because that one man wants power, hundreds or thousands of people will have to fight equally innocent people to the death.

At the base of it all, though, humans try to find the balance between helping others and helping themselves. Some people sacrifice one for the other, which is the difference between famous and infamous.
