Default Corporal Punishment...

On Dr. Phil, they're actually tackling a good issue. Corporal punishment in educational systems (smart way to say school!). They're talking about a kid who got paddled to the point that he had broken blood vessels and bruises on his ass for quite a while after he got paddled.

So, is physical punishment okay in schools?

No, especially not with fucking paddles. What the fuck?

Corporal punishment (nor does punishment in general actually) doesn't work. Reinforcement is a much better method. Hitting your child (or someone else's) is not acceptable.

I'm actually willing to look at normal spanking on a case by case basis, which isn't saying I approve of it.

Paddling, and the hitting of a child that isn't yours, I'm not willing to look at.

But hitting might help short term, but will more than likely hurt long term.

And on a side note, Dr. Phil has actually been pretty good the past two days, with a snow about ghosts and now corporal punishment. It's like what the No Spin Zone could be if O'Reilly wasn't such a dick.

It does hurt long term, check the psych studies. The absolute only time I would ever condone spanking would immediate physical danger (like a child touching a stove). Beyond that it only teaches the child the wrong things.

Oh and dr phil is evil

But there are cases that it might not hurt them, which is why I say "most likely." Anyways, not disagreeing, just saying.

Dr. Phil is evil, but for some odd reason the past two shows have consisted of people with opposing views debating. Of course Dr. Phil gets his word but this was miles ahead of the typical bullshit his show consists of. Which is why I'm surprised.

I'm not against it purely because it may be negative effects. That's coincidental. It is violence and should not be taught to children. You hit them, they are going to think it's okay to hit others no matter what you say to them.

I'm not just making these random things up. All is this based on research. Of course I wouldn't allow corporal punishment even if the studies said otherwise.

i got spanked when i was a small boy growing up and i turned out okay. but i do agree spanking in schools is so outdated.

i dont care what research shows. because most of the time they dont do them right or fair. how many people do they research maybe 1,000. are those 1,000 people supposed to represent all the people of the US? how is it even possible when you got different races, religion and cultures?

it goes on a case by case study IMO. if the parents/guardians overdue the spanking then yes it can lead to a long term problem. but if you dont explain to the kid why he/she is getting spanked/hit then they'll never learn.
