I believe America will prevail with China and Japan knocking on the door.
There may be a change in stragedies in foreign trade and services.Outsourcing may be a thing of the past.We will produced goods and services for ourselves.
What's made in the U.S. will stay in the U.S.
Other countries may do the same.

In terms of money and power, the U.S. may be slipping, but hopefully we'll bounce back. Too bad we're not manufacturing much of anything, but instead sending materials and whole jobs to other countries just because it's cheaper.

If America had more available jobs, it might have more available money. As for power, we could try being more menacing to North Korea, instead of having Obama basically say we won't try to stop them. Honestly, if they start attacking Japan, we'll have to do more than shoot down the missiles.

Heh, this thread. Americans are so self conscious. You can hear it every time Obama bangs on about changing America's "national identity"

What makes a country "number 1"?

Economic wealth and military power? Does it fuck. America's military power hasn't won one war yet nor has it brought about peace. The only thing it has brought about is money for people who already have lots of money.

Art, culture, history, music, free healthcare, affordable housing, care for the suffering, jobs for everyone is what makes a country great. Genuine fairness - not a culture where the rich get richer and the ruling class get all of the top jobs.

The Chinese are an interesting bunch. Typically uniformed, regimented and up for it. Definitely something to fear if you buy into this who is the greatest country shite. You can barely scratch the surface of their culture, art and history.

Britain, on the other hand, is a shithole. I hate it. I'm sure that eventually I will be one of the 10s of thousands who move abroad permanently every year, and have done ever since the days of the colonies

To be fair, being self conscious about their national identity may bring about a useful biproduct: actual solidarity between countries. It's unlikely but if we spend less time looking threatening we may make some... friends.

But you're right, this #1 country shit is bullshit and I agree with:

America (and Canada) lack in some of these. Mainly art in general. Not that there isn't great art, because there's some phenominal stuff as you know, but because our "mainstream" is so godawful. Instead of appreciating the good artists, we cherish the garbage. Nickelback is popular. Canadian Band #83922 gets lots of Canadian airplay because of the law saying it has to, instead of because it's quality.
