I just installed an interesting tool here at PTF called Snap Shots - it enhances links by providing a visual preview of the destination site, interactive excerpts of Wikipedia Articles, MySpace Profiles, IMDb Profiles, Amazon Products, Inline Videos, RSS, MP3s, Photos, Stock Charts, and more!

Snap Shots provides you with the opportunity to "look ahead" before you decide if you want to follow a link or not.

Should you decide this is not for you, just click the Options icon in the upper right corner of the Snap Shot and opt-out. It's that easy!

I like it. I have little use for it, but it come sin handy when I don't feel like going to another web site: I can roll over the link and see what it is first and then reconsider. What I hate absolutely are those ads that take an ordinary word from a post or a forum description or anything, then link them so that if your mouse goes anywhere near them they bring up a box with information relevant to that word, like "Looking for apples? Try [website]."

Don't put those in.

I have previously had it on the site. Some people liked it, some did not, so I took it off.

i got used to that feature on livejournal.com and i liked it there, not so sure a forum is the place for something like that, i love this forum, its genuine quality... but its also minimalistic and well put together, not so sure it needs something like this.

Don't worry, Butler, it isn't the sort of thing that recommends advertisements to you!

I think I'll keep it unless people aren't fond of it - I mean, if it isn't hurting anything then it shouldn't be removed, right? It may become useful to some people, or perhaps the majority in time. If it does become a problem though, or it really doesn't prove to have any value, I will remove it.

im running firefox3 with adblocker and when i hover over the google nothing pops up, not sure if adblocker is assuming its and advertisement and blocking it... i wouldn't think so but then agian who knows.

I don't know how useful it will be but it certainly couldn't hurt to have around.

I have removed this feature - gets in the way too easily.
