Tool's okay. I think they're talented and entertaining but I don't find them as mind blowing as I used to, years ago.

Their videos just creep me out. I love them, personally. Great bass, great guitar, great drums, and a great vocalist. I do like their songs. They have a range from badass rocking-out songs to songs that you just sit for 8-15 minutes and listen to. They're not all I listen to, and I can easily go a few months without listening to them, but when I do I enjoy it. Also, not only do I have all of their albums but I have Salival, the thing no one really heard about that has a bunch of live songs, their own and covers (and Message to Henry Manback II) as well as a "hidden" song you get after listenign to 7 minutes of this random...thing, and that's pretty good. Anyway, bye.

Butler, would you like to glide on, slide a mile six inches at a time on Maynard's diiiiiiiick?

I'll go more in depth now that it actually has some responses.
Here's a really lame breakdown on their albums that nobody cares about but me:

Opiate: Meh. An okay album.

Undertow: Again, okay. Doesn't really blow my mind but I like Prison Sex quite a bit. Sober's a good single as well.

Aenima: A couple songs of garbage filler, some introductions are too long and boring (Eulogy, I'm looking at you) but there are moments of brilliance, like Aenema, Third Eye (but I actually prefer the version on Salival more), Hooker With a Penis, Stinkfist. Has some of Tool's best songs but not my favourite album.

Lateralus- Even though the filler (Mantra, Eon Blue Apocalypse) is better than on Aenima, it's still filler. But still, songs like The Grudge, Schism, Laterlus, Reflection, Ticks and Leeches, etc make this my favourite overall album by 'em, but not the album I'd recommend to someone who only wanted one Tool album. That goes to...

10000 Days- I get the title and how personal it is to Maynard but I don't like it. This album seems like a summary of Tool, with a few new directions, but still ultimately, somewhat rehashed. The album that I'd recommend to someone new to them. Wings pt 1 and 2 are amazing, and I like Rosetta Stoned as well, but some of the experiments fail. The lyrics are a step down (Vicarious... good song, bad boring generic lyrics).

Their videos, I can't believe I forgot their videos.. those do blow my mind. Adam is an insanely talented man in that regard.

Edit: Salival is okay too.

Are these a single act or a group? I have never heard of any one or a group called tool so I am guessing they are an American thing? Am I right?

Yeah, pretty American. They're a group. Anyway, my own analysis, since I didn't like Ob's:

Opiate: Pretty good, not really long but not bad.

Undertow: Better, but the overall sound was a little monotonous. You can differentiate an Undertow song from all others, and it's not just because of the different bass since he did Opiate and a little of Aenema too.

Aenema: My favorite album by them. Or maybe just my favorite album. I love Pushit and Third Eye, but I prefer the Salival version of both. Eulogy has a long beginning but then kicks some ass, and Jimmy...well, I just like Jimmy.

Salival: Good, not great, but good live versions, covers, etc. And no, I would not like to slide a mile six inches at a time on Maynard's dick. If you want to, that's fine, but I really don't.

Lateralus: I like some songs on it more than others, and overall I liked Aenema more. Lateralus the song is good, and I love Disposition and Reflection, and Faiip de Oidd (the spelling is wrong, I know) is creepy as hell.

10,000 Days: I really did like this one. I like the songs like Vicarious, The Pot, and Rosetta Stoned, and the ones like 10,000 Days and Right in Two. Other than Jambi, though, nothing else on there is really worth it as far as I'm concerned.

(I had a friend once, he did some acid.
Now he thinks he's a fire engine.
It's okay, until he pisses on your lighter.
Kind of smells, kind of cool, kind of funny anyway.)

I guess I cannot comment them then.

However over the last two to three years I have relized a massive increase in rock bands that are popping up everywhere.

These guys released their first album in 1992 (but they haven't broken up yet).

Oh I see. They are not new.

However. Why do you think the increase in new acts as been rising over the recent years? Are people getting the opputunity to be able to get out more then they did a couple of years ago?
