Alright its been a tough argument, with many factors, but who was the first punk band? It is often argued between these ones.

Iggy and The Stooges
The Sex Pistols
The Ramones

Personally i believe it was Iggy and The Stooges, cuz they were in the 60s and 70s.

I wouldn't know, but the earliest one is the one I would agree on.

Haha, and I wasn't even gonna reply but then you mentioned me. I mean, when I first saw the thread I was going to say "Well, the first punk band was any band that just did what they wanted and stayed true to themselves" but the first punk rock band out of those 3? I'm not sure. Probably Iggy since he was around first. I'd say the Sex Pistols had the most impact though.

i meant like the first one to be famous, i mean the sex pistols were more punk then the stooges but iggy and the stooges were first, iggy was like insane hed stab himself with broken glass on stage and stuff, and this was before punk rock was even around.
