Well what kind of stuff do you prefer?

They've got metal songs with tons of screaming, some with tons of singing, some with a mixture of both.
They've got slower songs with all singing.
They've got a few "weird" songs.

I'll recommend based on your preferences

I like songs that have meaning. Like how Eminem raps about what he as been through. I don't like none of that lound banging music. So maybe that will help you? Something that means something.

No that doesn't help me because "loud banging music" has meaning too.

Just basically any song that means something that isn't loud music. I like to be able to read the lyrics whilest I am listening to the song. So a singing one.

I hate this kind of music. I think slipknot shouldn't be a band anymore

Okay you crazies, since the last post here, there's been more Slipknot info and the likes. We've gotten two songs:

The single, Psychosocial, which has a pummeling, mechanical riff (that sounds a bit like a Rammstein song at times but not enough to be a copy) then a really melodic soaring chorus.

Then we have All Hope Is Gone, which has elements from various forms of extreme music, such as -- but not necessarily limited to -- grind and thrash metal. Fucking intense.

A while back, 30 second previews of all the songs were leaked and it's probably somewheres on the net now but yeah.

Release date for their new album, All Hope Is Gone, is as early as August 20.

From what I've heard? Well, I'm actually kind of iffy to be honest. I love AHIG (the song, obviously) and Psychosocial really grew on me. The previews worried me a bit but anything will worry me when it comes to these guys. 30 seconds isn't enough to judge a song though so I'm hoping they didn't take a step back from the masterwork that was Volume 3. I wanted them to continue the experimental elements (songs like Danger - Keep Away, Circle, Virus of Life, etc), while also making some heavy songs but we'll see what they do.

Not too much of a fan of Psychosocial. All Hope Is Gone is awesome though

Turn down your speakers. Or did you mean any song that isn't heavy?

I don't tell you that your music shouldn't exist. Then again, there's probably an overlap.

Yeah that's right, I'm posting here even though I know very little about Slipknot. I don't like the screaming-style singing of anyone unless it's used in a meaningful way along with singing. Now I'm going to watch some of the Youtube videos and make an analysis.

I didn't like All Hope is Gone. It was hard and fast, but without a discernible melody and the vocals were...whatever adjective you'd associate with the song. Psychosocial is pretty good. It does sound like a Rammstein riff, kickass, and the vocals are cleaner in the chorus, making up for the verses. Still doesn't draw me in, though. So I've decided I don't like their really heavy fast songs or their slow, chilled-out songs. I think I'll take a look a their earlier work, which is probably a better indication of what the band is like.

That means Obdurate should post Youtube links to older songs, because I just don't have the motivation to go find out what their earlier songs are then find them on Youtube, although the latter is easier and I might be entertained in the comments section by people who show up just to diss Slipknot.
