Lil Wayne's new album has apparently dropped. It's about damn time. Not that I've been overly excited to hear this, but I've been sick of hearing him on every new rap song that comes out, tryin to hype his own shit. This album cover, I saw a few days ago and thought was hilarious. I
thought it was a joke when I first saw it...but, I guess that's the real album cover. So...at least Wayne has a sense of humor.
Tracks:
3 Peat - ..Ehh...s'okay
Mr. Carter - Featuring Jay-Z..go figure...not very spectacular.
A Milli - Nice beat...not very spectacular.
Got Money - ...gay...T-Pain sucks
Comfortable - ....gay...
Phone Home - Weezy's a Martian? Not a bad song..but...not very spectacular.
Dr. Carter - I like this song. Tight beat by Swizz Beatz.
Tie My Hands - ...weak...
Shoot Me Down - nice beat, not a bad song. Chorus' kinda weak.
Playin' With Fire - "So assassinate me bitch, cuz I'm doin' the same shit Martin Luther King did." ..um...aside from that, not bad. Good emotion.
Lollipop - ...gay...
La La - "Started out hustlin', ended up ballin'. Nigga I'm the shit, get the fuck up out my toilet." What?...interesting song. Plus, it's got Busta.
Nothin' On Me - ...I don't like Juelz Santana, nor this song. Wayne's last verse is hot though.
Let The Beat Build - Kanye always on that soul sample tip. Ok song.
Mrs. Officer - Gay. "All she want me to do is fuck the police." lol
Misunderstood - Um..wow...Common did this song, with the exact same sample and exact same title on his 2007 album, Finding Forever. Good song...long ass outro with Wayne talkin'...but, he is talkin' about some real shit, so I let it slide. I prefer Common's version, however. Great sample though...don't blame Wayne for wanting to use it.
Wayne is a master of his flow. His rhymes aren't always great, but he says them in a way that makes them sound better then they are. Which is a great talent to have. That alone keeps enough people listening. This album isn't horrible, as in it's better then 90% of todays hip hop albums, but...even that isn't much of an accomplishment.
Overall - 6.5/10
