So, he's released a video for his new single off his new album. And guess what? It's a joke/gimmick song and video again! I swear, his first single/video from every album he's ever done, is a fucking gimmick and people just eat it up for some reason. Personally, I think the song sucks. I like Eminem's sense of humor some times, but I'm just sick of how he does these videos every time. It's like the same shit every album, he takes stabs at pop culture, dresses up like a woman, and has Dr. Dre look at him like "you crazy white boy!". It's old. I have very low expectations for the album. This advertisement is only visible to guests. Register for free to remove it! ![]() |

I have hope for a decent album, I havn't listened to that track yet, but I don't like most of the gimmicky type songs. And you're right on the gimmick, he comes out with a goofball, welcome back tune and then the next single will be darker and more serious, jus do you don't think he's a joke. I still like him, I have faith that he can churn out a few good tunes still.

Fuck, I thought his bullshit voice he was using on the "I'm Having A Relapse" freestyle/song (whatever) was just for that song. Turns out he uses it again on here. Straight up Encore shit here. I'll give him credit for one thing: this song is different for him. I mean the sound. That doesn't mean it's good. It is catchy though, but there's a surprise. The thing about his gimmick songs from the SSLP (although is My Name Is really a gimmick song? The whole album sounds cartoony), MMLP and The Eminem Show is that they said something. My Name Is was an introduction and had social commentary, The Real Slim Shady was talkin' about copycats, Without Me talked about how lame rap would be. Then he released Just Lose It, a catchy but otherwise bullshit song (I still listen to it though, can't help it). And of course he releases the catchy shit and then the serious shit. It's good business. We know we can't escape from the business end. This was the conversation that Katy and I just had: Me: I just heard the new Eminem song. Her: The one where he makes fun of everyone? Doesn't he make fun of like Lindsey Lohan? Me: Yeah. It sucks. Her: It's better than Crack A Bottle. Touche. ![]() "Don't vote, it only encourages them." |

Yeah, and that's aiming real high. Crack A Bottle is awful. There's been some debatin' about Em. It's weird to see "HE'S BACK" everywhere. No he's not, the Eminem we loved died a long time ago. He can still flow, but he's just not saying anything. I still hope for a good album, and I know there will be some amazing songs on there, but blah. I've listened to the song a few times now and yeah, the hook. The hook is nice. Then he comes in with that stupid voice. I love My Name Is, still. I love it more than I did when I first heard it, because now I understand it. Plus I... cling onto the good ol' days. ![]() "Don't vote, it only encourages them." |

I don't consider My Name Is as much of a gimmick, as it was his introduction. I don't blame him for releasing these types of songs either, his label pressures him to. About Encore, terrible CD, the bonus disc of 3 songs was a more solid effort than that shit. Granted the skit Em Calls Paul is funny as hell and I do like a couple songs on it. I hope Relapse is better, or I hope it at least comes with a decent bonus disc, haha. |

i think if an artist is to be taken as an artist they must be recognisable and he definatly is

I've listened to it a bunch more now, so I have a slightly more positive opinion on this song. Thank God, he can sleep well tonight. This song still lacks the punch of his earlier lead off singles, there's not much to debate there is there? He'll never reach My Name Is, Real Slim Shady or Without Me standards again. But I still enjoy watching Eminem dissect/rip apart pop culture because some of these bullshit artists need to have a chunk taken out of them. Some of these pop culture references are clever. And funny. There are a few lines that I think mean a little something, but ultimately, still, the song doesn't say much. The lyrics are written okay, nothing incredible. It's catchy as fuck and I like the flow. I still despise the delivery. So it's gone from being an awful song to an okay one. That's about as good as it'll get. Edit: The video is funny, gotta say. I appreciate it more. But even so, I wish Em would have come back with something really biting, not more of the same that he's always done. ![]() "Don't vote, it only encourages them." I like that he poked fun at the Alf shirt. I think I said somewhere in another thread that I wanted him to bring that back...he must be spying on me.
