Default D'Mite - Read A Book

this is a new music video that was just premiered yesterday on BET's 106th and Park, i want to see what your opinions of it are, because its very blatant in its message

P.S. - don't think this is just talking about black stereotypes, because this could apply to all creeds and colors

From what I get, I feel that this might touch upon the fact that there are certain things in this world that people advise that you should do. Whether it be read books to be more knowledgeable, or just plain brush your teeth and wear deodorant so that you stay clean.

These certain advisements might be mentor-like, but would probably be more effective without the explicit way of expressing them. Women with the word Book on the rear of their pants and using vulgar language is not effective to anyone. They will take it as a joke. The piano in the beginning resembles the core values, but they are covered up by the way he rapped.

This, in my eyes, shows how we need to think before we act. We might be thinking that we are telling others on how to act, but in effect, we are telling them the opposite.

i think you've missed the point comletely

he took a Lil Jon type song and video and put his message into it. he says at the beginning "I usually do songs with concepts and shit, but **** that, I'm going platinum". because sadly, thats what it takes to sell records and get on the radio. so he made you're cookie cutter rap song to get noticed, then screamed the message in your face

edit: apparently the other link is dead, so here's another copy

I noticed the Lil' Jon similarities, but didn't think anything of it. I suppose I did miss it altogether... anyways thats what I got from it.
