Who here plays bass? And what do you prefer?
For instance, I like four stringed basses with standard tuning. Dropped D sounds weird with the other strings, and loosens the string so that you get more of that you-need-more-action sound. You know, the sound like you're not holding the string down hard enough, only you are.
And just what the hell is the idea behind 11 or 14 stringed basses? I couldn't imagine trying to play one of those.

And I just can't figure out how to slap, but since popping makes a similar if not identical sound, I don't really need to slap. I like muting and harmonic notes, but it's very hard to make sliding up and down sound fluid. Plus it gives me rope burn.

There's too many people on PTF for only me to play bass here. I mean, like 15 members at least play guitar.

Damn it, people, I feel like Obdurate whenever he makes a thread and no one responds for a really long time. Actually, that's th reason I'm making this post. It seems pointless: I mean, I'm saying nothing that I didn't in the last thread, but really I'm getting this thread on the home page and new posts lists so that people will be more inclined to view it again.

Back a few years ago I was very loosely a bass player. I mean, I had one, I could play bits and pieces of a couple songs but it was always my last choice of instrument. And now I probably can't play anything.

It wasn't much but at least someone has replied in your thread.

And as for you feeling my pain: I've learned to accept that this forum, while having some cool members, isn't really populated by people like me. Although some of yous will check out what I like or do anyways.
