Rock N Roll years in the 60s brought great stars such as The Stones,Simon and Garfunkel and others.Each singer has their distinctive sound ( Beach Boys).Some of them appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show.It is known for a few to sing show tunes.
Let's turn out attention to todays star.Now we have rap artists which makes this comment interesting.Outside of the High School Musical series,I believe the music industry should encourage their acts in try singing more show tunes.
Is it popular today? It depends on the song and the publics' acceptance.
I wonder if the Jonas Brothers will sing the music from Guys & Dolls ?
I wonder if Ne-Yo will sing the music of Rogers and Hammerstein.
I wonder if Ashanti' will sing the songs from Funny Girl.

Hatchet, RKelly, and Knox as anonymous greasers
Gillibean on her triumphant return, will play all other female roles.
