GAYMAN, OMG.

Anyway. Has anybody ever read anything by him? Seems to be a pretty diverse writer. Writes novels, comics, I think movies. I've heard a lot about him but I'm just now starting my first book by 'em so lemme know what y'all think if y'all think at all.

I've never heard of him. I'm just posting here because this subforum is painfully neglected.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry. I don't read the books you people read for the most part (it seems, so far) so yeah, there's one problem. I don't know if any of us read similar books or not!

Been reading Anansi Boys, and so far it's pretty cool (pg 150/400, so I still have a while to go yet). Just chiming in to say so far it's been funny, with a part or two that made me chuckle out loud which most books can't usually do. It has a pretty "out there" story, which is nice and the way he blends in mythology/spiders and "the real world" is really effective but I heard Gaiman's good at that anyway.

Ooooh. I like blending. ESPECIALLY mythology, history, and religious stuff packed into a fictional story. I learn something (most of the time, but its cool how i can recognize some fact) and i enjoy the read. How much was the book? And is this what kind of book?

Personally, i've never heard of the guy. Nor the book you're reading. Sounds interesting though, i'll be going on a 5 day, i hope its only 5 days at least, vacation and i plan on visiting the book store before going.

I pronounced the last name as "guy man" but i read that i pronounced the wrong sound.

I got it at a used bookstore (always check those out first!) so it was cheaper. I love used bookstores though, because of how easy it is to find books that have stuff written in them from previous owners. I bought a book based solely on that but I'm sure no one cares why.

You'll like it if you enjoy books that incorporate normal (sometimes mundane) events like going to work or family relations or getting married with things like mythology. For example, Anansi (the West African spider god and yes, I didn't know it was a West African thing until I looked it up just now) plays a large part in this book. It won a Mythopoeic Award, and those are given out to books in the myth/fantasy realm so there you go.

Fictional stories can be just as truthful as non-fiction if it's written by a capable author.
