The movie and the book definitely have some major differences. But the title is amazing - I am Legend, it refers to how after the creatures take over the world, humans - and their struggle, will only be a legend. People tell their children now legends about vampires, and vampires will tell their children legends about humans.

well thanks for the explanation. i now have some idea of the book and the movie cause i was not able to see the movie. i will surely want to buy that book and better read it myself to better appreciate it.

Matter of fact, I don't know why Will Smith is being cast in any movie.

I like Will Smith. He does a good job in a lot of movies...

I also wouldn't have thought I Am Legend was bad in any way if I hadn't read the book first...or maybe I would anyway, I don't know.

But yeah the book is a whole other experience and worth it no matter what your opinion of the movie is or if you even saw it.

I disagree. I think if at least the ending was similar to the book, the movie would have done it justice. Since it didn't, it's still not a bad movie, but very separate from the book.
