Default Fiction and Children

Books having fantasy as their genre, like Harry Potter series, Inheritance series, may be very interesting to read, but may cause ill effects in Children's minds, especially of those who are very small, and get influenced easily.

I remember reading in a newspaper that a child jumped from 5th floor of a building and died. A note was found from his pocket saying " I know Superman will save me."

I am talking about such kind of negative influences on a child's mind can really have serious consequences.

Hence they should be made to read literature and good fiction from a very small age.

Opinions/Comments are welcome.

Childs are affected not only by books, also by movies, music and even the company.
Therefore, such things will always happen, it's the parents' job to care for their kids.
Thats my opinion, but I'm sure there will be alot more.

Children like to pretend, I know that...and they are easily made to believe in things that aren't real. The problem is when they do not understand what is real and what isn't in a negative way. Believing in Santa Clause? That's harmless and fun for the child, who outgrows the belief or is told beforehand. Believing in Superman is another matter entirely. They should be told, if they really believe in superheroes, that they aren't real, so we don't have incidents like this.
