hm guys.. just a question? is really true that Leonardo da vinci paint himself as Mona lisa?

currently reading "The Lost Symbol"

My wife told me that artists back then were not allowed to use naked woman as models. So they would use naked men as models but paint them as women. Of course Mona Lisa isn't naked but she probably should be.
