I recommend the classic, Green Eggs and Ham by Doctor Seuss. It's a very good book and with a little knowledge you can discover the deep insights of ham....

Insights? Yes. But Trevor's still just being an idiot.

No offense, T.

Actually, you can take offense if you want. Who am I to say you can't?

You should read

_ Doris Kearns Goodwin's Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln. A most excellent biography on Lincoln, the people around him, and the time period in general.

_ Walter Karp's The Politics of War: The Story of Two Wars Which Altered Forever the Political Life of the American Republic (1890-1920). You'll never look at America's domestic affairs and the Spanish-American War and Great War the same way again.

_ Frank Herbert's Dune. I've never read a more inspiring and intriguing sci-fi.

_ Felipe Fernandez-Armesto's Pathfinders: A Global History of Exploration.

_ Anthony Everitt's Augustus: The Life of Rome's First Emperor.

_ James Bradley and Ron Powers' Flags of Our Fathers. Bare with the book in its first one or two chapters. When it starts getting into detail about the whole Iwo Jima affair, the book dispels any notion that it wasn't worth every penny.

_ Bart D. Ehrman's Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why. The introduction alone would make it worth reading, though if you're a more devout Christian, you probably won't like it.

Nice Medora and Obdurate, I'll definitely take these into consideration. I might have to check out the local library (since I'm friggin' broke) and see what I can find on this list. They all sound like interesting reads.

im not a big book reader... i just don't enjoy sitting down and reading... i guess maybe im lazy, maybe its because i read to slow to keep interest... maybe its because i have adhd or add or whatever that stuff is called...

but a friend of mine got me into reading manga here recently.. and over the past week i have read 7 mangas...
sometimes reading two or three in one day... yes i know they are graphic novels basically long comic books but i find they keep my interest alot longer than a normal book... give it a try see what you think.

I like more novels than I do comic books, but with that said, I think comic books can be a really efficient means of telling a story. There are tons of great comic books/graphic novels (whatever you wanna call them) out there that tackle "serious" issues (like Maus, which I've posted about before... it tackles Hitler and the Holocaust), and of course, The Watchmen.
Plus Superhero comics can do the same.

Of course you can just read them to be entertained as well.

Comics are like the love child of movies and novels. After I write a novel I'd like to dabble in comics. I just need to find someone who can draw and colour because I can't do either of 'em!

Since I'm a History nerd, I recommend "True Canadian Heroes on the Battlefield" by Arthur Bishop. It's a collection of stories of Canadian soldiers in the biggest conflicts of the last 200 years (War of 1812, Crimean War, Indian Mutiny, Boer War, WWI and WWII, and Korea). Gorgeously crafted book.

"Rick Mercer Report: The Book" was also a pleasant surprise. I mean, if you like this genre, you'll probably want to read Colbert's book, but this one was very funny.
