For the Wii, of course. Don't know how many people have played it, but I see a lot of people trashing it around the internet.

Yeah, it's not a mind blowing game- with a few minor issues- and when somebody comes at you with a sword you put away your gun and pull out a sword (the only explanation I can think of for THAT is that it relates to old Samurais and their honour).

But what's the real problem with the game? Why do so many people frown on it? Is it because it advertised itself as more than it is? It was a launch game for christs sake. I like the music that plays in gun fights, it adds to the mood and I'm only two levels in but I enjoy it more now than Call of Duty 3, but that could be because I'm sick of war games and wanted something more modern (and also with more attitude).

Red Steel 2 will work out the kinks (hopefully) but Red Steel 1 isn't nearly as bad as quite a few people make it out to be.

I think due to it being a highly hyped game (it seemed that way) and then with the fact the game didn't equal it's hype is why the game is getting trashed. I haven't played it yet, but I've watched my brother play it, and from what I see, it doesn't impress me at all. Not including blood in the game also hurt the game in my opinion.

I think that's a huge problem with a lot of people. Very rarely games ever live up to the hype but people still insist on judging it by it. But yeah, it was really hyped, and it shouldn't have been.. but hey, it was meant to show off the potential of the system and it does. As time goes on, FPSs will improve.

Blood's always nice but not necessary. I'm not impressed by it either but it's still fun.

I plan on borrowing it from my friend, i heard you dont exactly have the full dynamic use of slashing though. The Vs. Mode with multiplayer sounds pretty fun though. IMO, Zelda Twilight Princess was the only Wii game that was greater than expected. Totally rated perfect on many game magazines, yup...

I digress. Well, when I first bought my Wii, I think it was Jan 6th, lol, the person working in the store said it was mediocre. Totally discouraged, i decided not to get it. Friends recommend it, offer to let me borrow, and eh, since its free, why not right? When I finally play it, I'll post my personal review.

Well, as long as you don't go in expecting a masterpiece you should be ok. You should at least enjoy it.

You don't have complete control over the sword fighting... and to be honest the sword fighting isn't that exciting anyway. I guess it adds some variety but it needs to be placed in better. And tweaked.

Alright, I'll try it. What's on the top of my list right now, however, is getting the new Ghost Recon AW2, and God of War II. Better play Red Steel before i get those, or else it's gunna be sittin' there... hmm, meaning to ask, how's the single player storyline? Cliche "get your girlfriend back" type? Also heard that you can spare/decapitate the people you beat...

Yeah, I'm not far enough to go into great detail as of now about the storyline but I like it. From what I gather, you were the bodyguard of the woman who became your girlfriend. You're gone to meet the father for the first time who is an important fella, some people betray him, you save him... someone takes your girl.

So it is pretty cliche. But the game is pretty effective in making you feel badass.

As for sparing people, apparently the game rewards you for convincing people to help you or something, but I don't know how much it matters besides getting more points. I've killed most people I've dueled with, heh.

LOL, the dueling sounds fun. I like games that make you feel badass, Like MK! MKSM was the best at making you feel awesome. Press a button three times and you make yourself look like a pro...
