40GB PS3 Doesn't Have Backwards Compatability

What impact do you think this will have on PS2 owners looking to buy a PS3, seeing as how they won't be able to play their PS2 games on this system. They'll instead have to buy the $499.99 80GB or 60GB versions to play them.
