A long time ago, i got the nickname gilligan thanks to a hat i wore on a trip to mexico that looked exactly like the tv star's. It stuck all through jr high and high school. When i was looking for a new username, i decided to use gilligan because of the sentimental value. Gilligan is too masculine for my tastes so i combined it with my favorite girly nicknames, Jilli(bean). It's girliness seems to be not as apparent to everyone else as many people here convinced i'm male

Gillibean is basically just gibberish to us, so we go with the default. After all, the forum is mostly made up of males, especially at the time you came here.

Well, people on other forums are just too presumptuous and we are superior to them in several ways.

It's presumptuous of you to assume I'm male just because most of the population is male

So when reaching for some sort of pronoun I either have to awkwardly guess at a person's gender based on statistics if it isn't obvious or awkwardly draw attention to the fact that I do not know the person's gender.

(These posts really are relevant if you think about it, so don't anyone try to tell us to get back to the subject.)

If it's not obvious, I don't particularly care about being confused as male on forums. It amuses me, thats all I don't really see how asking a persons gender is awkward. I'd prefer people ask than just assume

I got mine because my dad used to always rock me around listening and singing along to Johnny Cash's Ring Of Fire.
